Im Erscheinen: „Moving Image Remains: On the Refusal to Disappear“
Veröffentlicht am 05.10.2026

Forthcoming in open access from Meson Press: In the study of film and media, rediscovering neglected fragments, traces of unfinished projects, and suppressed histories can be a powerful way of challenging established narratives. How do unresolved pasts generate spectral urgencies that call for action? How do transient circulations embody resistance? And how can ghosted histories be mobilized by marginalized perspectives to unsettle archival power?

Based on the international conference under the same name, which was organized by a group of the third cohort of PhD candidates in the Research Training Program “Configurations of Film,“ this publication brings together perspectives on the politics of remaining across archival, cinematic, and artistic practices. It explores how material and immaterial remnants of film and media challenge dominant histories and temporalities.
