In December 2017, the Graduiertenolleg invited Erika Balsom (King’s College London) and Ramon Lobato (RMIT University) to the spa town of Bad Homburg in order to partake in a scholarly bivouac of sorts: a two-day, intense workshop focused on developing a methodological toolset capable of operating with the diverse range of topics and fields with which the individual projects in the research collective are concerned. Members of the Kolleg were asked to bring a concrete object to this workshop whose presence in their work resulted in a certain amount of doubt, amazement, wonder, or distress. They then presented, together with this object, on a potential method for coming to terms with said object. Among these objects were a number of redacted documents, a brochure, a Western film, a playground slide en miniature, etc. etc.
